![]() The Rush Limbaugh Show "Talent on loan from God." The man who fused conservatism with humor, Rush Limbaugh has remained the most listened-to talk host in America. Funny, upbeat, and innovative, he changed a nation's view of the right-winged stereotype. With a style unlike any other talk show host, Rush Limbaugh took America by storm and has become the most powerful radio personality of the decade. He was born Rush Hudson Limbaugh III in January 1951, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to a family with generations of attorneys. Rush chose to explore his passion for broadcasting by age 16, working on-air each afternoon for a radio station in his hometown. After four years, it was off to Pittsburgh and the (then) ABC owned and operated KQV. He later moved to Kansas City, where he eventually tired of the DJ life and left broadcasting for business, joining the Kansas City Royals as Director of Group Sales in February of 1979. He later became Director of Sales and Special Events. By 1983, Rush got the broadcasting bug again and reentered radio as a political commentator for KMBZ in Kansas City. A year later he was hosting a daytime talk show on KFBK Sacramento. From Sacramento, it was on to New York in 1988 and the birth of Rush's record-breaking national show. Rush was the 1992 and 1995 recipient of the Marconi Award for Syndicated Radio Personality of the Year, given by the National Association of Broadcasters. He was inducted into the National Association of Broadcastrs Hall of Fame earlier this year.
